Teaching
Quite often young people need help with Mathematics. Most of the time they would rather be doing something else than talking about Math. But when their grades get better they are usually happier.
Riddles
Sometimes students ask for something more fun than Math so I tell them a riddle. Here are a couple you can try.
- 1. How can you make exactly one hundred from six nines?
- 2. Fred sells something to Larry. Larry gives it away to Eugene, but Eugene doesn't know that he's using it. What is it?

Pythagorean Theorem
a2 + b2 = c2 is named after Pythagoras, who was this crazy Greek cult leader. Be careful! The theorem only works for right triangles!
Golden Ratio
If you have 2 line segments a and b, with a being the longer segment; then, according to the Golden Ratio, a + b is to a as a is to b.
You can also think of it as the sum of one and the square root of 5 divided by two. This is an irrational number which is approximately 1.618033988.
